Walk with the Wolf

I see your teeth

I see the glint in your eyes

You stare into my soul

You penetrate all time and space

I love you wolf.

You snarl at me, but it’s not a warning.

You seem to say, what I know you’ll say,

“Find your fierce warrior spirit and begin.”

Your message lands like lightening at my feet

And as soon as I feel this knowing

Like an arrow through my heart

You turn.

Lone Wolf Survivor, Forest Walker Spirit

You turn and move purposely away.

The icy snowpack holding your weight

The last of the day’s sunrays glistening your fur.

I close my eyes to the message,

“Fierce warrior spirit awake.”

I drop to my knees

Surrendering

Laying down

Curled in, my cheek to the snow,

A position of beginning…

There is no waiting in this stillness.

There is no purpose in this stillness.

There is just the cold snow on my cheek

and the sound of the snow settling into the earths caress.

My grandmother finds me here.

Ancient ancestor wisdom

She conjures a fire for me and others join

Wise spirits. Guardians. My teachers. The trees.

I am them and they are me.

My grandmother puts her hands in my hair

Her hair is my hair

My hair is her hair

We are one.

She presses a burnt orange carnelian stone, warm and smooth between my brows

Hawk feathers are pressed against my temples

“Dance dear girl,” she whispers, her voice warm and soft like rabbit fur to my cheek, like sunshine.

A drum beat like thunder to my root begins.

I feel it rise as I rise

“Knowing, knowing, knowing, oneness…”

It seems to call out and reverberate

Collective unification

Universal love

A knot, a loop, a linking I’ll never see past

A continuum of infinity tying us together forever.

I bow down.

The wind is smooth, caressing my skin

Cedar smoke and frost, damp on my lips

The past and the future wrapped in its taste.

There is nothing more than the now of this space

The drum beats faster

The drum beats wisdom

Wisdom that has always been there breathes to the surface

I feel it in my palms and on my tongue

I feel it like fire through my root

I feel it like stardust through my crown

Opened

I am home.

I am home.

Wolf wisdom spirit, fire forest dancer

Lift me, I am home.
